- Tresco Sound - double CD by Full of Noises
This two CD album is a highly personal musical reflection of the island of Tresco, Isles of Scilly: a place with a unique and colourful human history twisting back through the centuries; a place set in a jewelled seascape of otherworldly beauty; a place with a soundscape so pristine that sea, wind and birds are usually all there is to hear. The music was composed and recorded on Tresco, surrounded by all of this…
The first CD takes the listener on an aural journey around the island, combining field recordings of the natural sounds of Tresco with original music inspired by specific places and the stories they have to tell. Some of the music was recorded on location within the evocative acoustic spaces of the island - Cromwell’s Castle, Piper’s Hole, The Abbey Garden…
The second CD was conceived as a sixty minute ambient track - Island Soul Soundscape. It uses subtle electronic techniques to transform the sonic world of Tresco Sound into a glowing collage of slow-moving harmonies and textures, with the character and stillness of the island at it’s very core. It is designed to distill the soul-healing power of Scilly into a meditative musical form.
The music is accompanied by a booklet of original poems inspired by places on Tresco.
For those who find their truest sense of home here on this island, the Tresco Sound double album represents an evocation of a place that can be summoned at will; a way of transporting the listener instantly back to an extraordinary speck of granite and sand in the wide Atlantic Ocean; and a gateway to the emotions that the island inspires.

Have a listen to a couple of tracks from the album... Both tracks are inspired by specific locations on Tresco. The first one features viola player Alison D'Souza and the second showcases the piano playing of my good friend Tom Dyson.
